  1. In General Karaka bhava nasha is not applied when the Position of Planet is switched in Bahav Chalit Chart. This rule is applied only in the Basis of Houses. Example: If Venus is placed in 7th House in D1 Chart but moves to 8th House in the Bhava Chalit Chart then that Bhava/House will not be affected. Bhava Chalit I will discuss in next Article.

Now, this concept of Karaka-Nasha Bhava, as it is spread, suggests that if a planet is sitting in the house, which it is karaka of, then it destroys the results of that house. Like, if Jupiter is sitting in 2nd house, it will destroy the Family and Wealth or if Venus is in 7th house, it will destroy the relationship aspect of life.

It is same as driving a high speed car is prone to accident or damage. Karaka planet in the same house speed up its karakatva which acts against the signification of the house. For example Sun is karaka planet for 9th house representing father, his dignity and pride. However, having Sun in the 9th house can give dominating, autocratic, arrogant father which is result of the overdose of planet Sun being in that house. Let’s see how this placement works for all the karaka planets:

Sun or Jupiter in 9th house:

As mentioned above, Sun in the 9th house can make the father arrogant, authoritarian, autocratic, or self-important. His role in the child’s life may be excessively ego focused. In other words there could be “too much father” element in this case. These significations may vary in the intensity depending upon the uchh (exaltation), neech (debilitation), swa-grih (own-house), or placement in the other signs.

Jupiter in the 9th house can make the person dogmatic, believing and overvaluing his own ideas and rituals. Could be too religious and drive others with his ideas. Strong Guru can also give boasting and overconfidence. In other words, too much priesthood.

Jupiter, Sun, Mercury, Saturn in 10th house:

Sun in 10th is considered dig-bali and makes the person over-confident, self-centered in his profession. He will enjoy the professional authority in his profession however, his way of working and approach will not get him respect in the society.

Mercury is connected with intellect, information, communication. Mercury in 10th gives too much intellectual greatness and native is burdened with too much information load. As a result, native may be annoying to others, will receive less favorable promotions despite being intelligent.

Karaka Bhava Nasha Saturn

Saturn and Jupiter in 10th house – as per our sages ‘BHAVA NASH KARO JEEVA, BHAVA VRIDDHHI KARAU SHANI’ meaning, Jupiter destroys the bhava he occupies and Saturn increases the bhava he occupies. So as per this doctrine Saturn will not do much harm if placed in 10th, whereas Jupiter will destroy the karakatva. Logically speaking 10th is karma bhava which requires labor and hard work (Saturn) so this placement is not bad, on the other hand Jupiter will connect you to religions, preaching, thinking, philosophy etc. which is not good in the place which requires hard core action.

Saturn in 12th house:

This placement could bring excessive depression due to the loss of identity. It can also bring setbacks and resistance from government in social justice to that person. The native may have a great difficulty to overcome these shocks and move forward in life.

Jupiter in 5th house:

5th is romance, politics, art but primarily for children. Interestingly, karaka planet (Jupiter) of putra karaka bhava (5th) in the same house is not considered good as it diminishes the possibility of having child. It is because of the over-development and expansion of Jupiter in the re-production house, not so good for parent except when Jupiter is conjunct with some other planet.

On the other hand aspect of Jupiter on the 5th house is considered auspicious for child birth.

Karaka Bhava Nasha Remedies

Venus in 7th house:

It works as ‘too much marital bliss’ which can become worse. Spouse may be highly attractive, wealthy, handsome, socially connected, and sensual which may cause further extra marital relationships. Such marriages may exhaust quickly and partners will look for more physical pleasure outside. In some cases, material will take over to marital and spouse may become too much involve in wealth show off, clothing and furnishings to make perfect balance to the show off.

However, one must remember that these are general rules and must keep in mind the aspects, conjunction, degrees etc before reaching to any conclusion. Some scholars differ in their opinion about the karakatva nasha and it could be matter of more investigation in the chart based on different opinions.
